Our Story So Far
From the corner of a rented warehouse…
…not far from Liverpool’s Docklands to its current 8000 square feet purpose built workshops and offices in the vibrant South Liverpool area, close to the John Lennon Airport and other major transport links, the growth of Photocast is a remarkable and interesting story.
Photocast started life 1988 as a small zinc etching plant with assorted bench tools and the smallest of paint spray booths. Our main business was in producing etched and painted plaques and name plates. Over the next few years the business stared to grow and in the early 90’s we added Historical Interpretation panels, Blue Plaque Schemes, and Golf Course Signage. The increase in business gave the company its first enjoyable growing pains and we had to bid farewell to the small section of a warehouse and move to Lynwood Hall, an old church with a church hall attached. We invested in larger equipment and, more importantly, the recruitment of extra staff with the artisan skills we need to progress our business.
Photocast’s product range continued to grow.
We added pattern making and the finishing of cast bronze and aluminium plaques and signs and it was not very long before, once again, we needed more space and more people.
In 2006 we moved to new purpose built workshops and offices. The additional space allowed us to add further etching capacity, a new paint room with high temperature stoving ovens and also new CNC facilities. We also upgraded our art department which allowed us to offer a complete artwork and design service.
In 2020 we approached our long term suppliers…
…and close business friends Charles H Cowards of Sheffield with a view to taking over the ownership of Photocast, and we were both happy and proud that the transfer of business took place and we are now a member of the CHC Group of Companies. The existing Directors and Staff remain the heartbeat of the company and with the support of CHC we aim to take Photocast to its next level.
We enjoy, what we consider to be, a well-earned reputation for fine crafted work across our whole range of products, take a look through our website and browse our gallery of photographs. We look forward to helping you with any future signage projects.
