Earlier this year we were commissioned to produce a lasting memorial infamous stories of the Witches of Fife.

From this the Fife Witches Trail was born.

The client and Fife Council’s aim was to depict the story of one particular case – that of Lilias Adie who was imprisoned in the 1700’s during an intense period of witch-hunting in the area.

Dark & Interesting facts of Lilias Adie

• Lilias Adie was imprisoned for the crime of practicing witchcraft
•  She was interrogated in prison by a local minister for over a month prior to her forced “confession”
• Adie was the only “witch” known to be burried, the rest were hung or burned.
• At the time of her arrest it was likely she was upwards of 60 years old
• Her remains were dug up by antique-collecting grave robbers in 1852

The three cast discs contain decorative and descriptive elements relating to herbalism and the tragedy of the victims.

The Artwork was designed in part to portray the ludicrous accused notion of Lilias “dancing with the devil” and the stunning solid cast bronze markers depicting the story of Lilias were both manufactured and hand finished in-house.
